You are Count de Efrit hypothetically. You want to shed nearly all your old clothes and jump into unexplored waves. How do you start? Will you write a commercial disc and earn a wealth? I don’t think so.

Our Iranian friend venture outside diabolic-bloody-shit-corpsepaint territory and shot us his Hypermnesia.

The sheer length of this work will keep me from dissecting all individual tracks with a scalpel, so I’ll point out some of the key elements that have kept my quivering hand reaching for this record time and time-again. For reference sake, think A Challenge of Honour or Exemtum: a grandiose neo-classical sound supported by some Electronic elements. It's pretty extraordinary, actually, especially considering literally everything done here is the direct result of just one man. Fortunately for the listener, Ekove Efrits’ ability to escape simple classification does not result in a completely inaccessible release. He knows where to take ideas from those who have come before; he simply arranges them in a far more stirring manner. The shifting of astonishing violins to wonderful pianos evokes the passing of shadows and light in a manner which moves away from tedious repetition. The use of some speeches and radio samples allows songs to progress instead of making them go around in circles. Moreover, some guitars launch a link between this album and the previous one. For example, riffs in 11.9 are so similar to Graveless Pain. So, it’s the perfect witness that Count de Efrit strengths are sufficient to merit an immediate success. This CD also contains a folkloric track called "Oriental Prophecy". It sounds as if it’s is borrowed from an Akrabu or Shiva in Exile album, and more than once I’ve pressed play again, following this hypnotic soul.

Though I haven’t listened to Hypmnesia enough to see if it warrants the Iranian masterpiece, I’m close to certain that this is an album that has the emotional capacity and musical clout to make a firm statement and shine on the Neo-Classical/Experimental community. Fanatics of Black Metal are required to leave this work in peace. Get off your shit bicycle, stop taking about your clichés and enjoy this or I'll reach my hand into the internet, through your screen and cook your closed mind, ok?
