Finally, this is another release that incorporates a massive dose of blasphemous prayers among mournful nights as well as solid foundations within Suicidal universes. Kanashimi is not likely to go all depressed on you, then. Indeed, as expected, his black metal is impregnated with romantic atmospheres, in which this Japanese guy shows a lot of conviction.

Romantik suicide offers just what you would expect from such talent, from the gloomy piano of the eponym track which breaks into tortured vocals. Fans of Xasthur, you are served! If you loved Subliminal Genocide, this record will be your next addiction…. A possessed voice inflames your sweet nightmare with such potency and decent mixing means that the atmospheric effects of the keyboard will not be lost upon the listener. Slow guitars still extremely able to find peace as well as war in the dense fog of battle.  But they're amazing, adding a dimension completely dreamful in the devotion to self destruction.

Holy and godly father, forever I will pray, above all, beyond rights, forever I will cry! The sheer despondency of the melodies is perfectly complemented by the pianist touches and the mid-tempo drums, which are often accompanied by slower clean chords; again, everything connects to the album title in terms of the mood it creates. There is no need for any great virtuosity, but these chapters are neither loose nor excessively simplistic. The band manages to communicate the two conflicting worlds without falling into cheesy or cliché attempts at recreating someone else's superior work. It’s true that I’m not facing a masterpiece. However, this guy knows, perfectly, how a doleful soul could be. These instruments, in addition to all the amorous effects, blend in extremely well; prove that the best way to listen to this album is on headphones in the complete dark preferably somewhere in the outdoors like a burned church, cemetery or such environments. Some people may find Kanashimi's piano playing somewhat happy or loving. They will say that’s so ridiculous to put a romantic atmosphere in suicidal waters but Those effects on your mind can make you hallucinating or can merely set you off into a dream-like state of nostalgia or sorrowful imagination.

From start to finish, this material debut disc kicks you in the teeth, leaving you bloody and scarred as it treads all over you and even persecute you when you are down. While I have to add the usual warning that those who aren't already servers of the style are unlikely to enjoy this mournful temple, those who are really need to taste the sweet combination between love and hatred, dream and nightmare, despair and hope perform. Revolutionary it certainly isn't, but Romantik Suicide stills one of the best depressive metal albums to have come my way from Japan.
